VELUX Solar Powered ``Fresh Air`` Skylight

The Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylight features a solar panel that captures any available daylight and uses it to recharge a highly efficient, fully concealed battery powered operator and control system. The battery powered operator is the power source that opens and closes the skylight. A rain sensor is built in to close the unit in the event that inclement weather arises while you’re away.

    Features:

Remote controlled, solar powered skylight requires no wiring, which makes for easy and cost effective installation.

With the integrated rain sensor, the skylight will close automatically if inclement weather approaches.

Silicon dioxide makes Neat® glass exceptionally smooth. In fact, it’s much smoother than ordinary glass so water disperses evenly (sheets off), and evaporates quickly, greatly reducing water spotting. Reduce unwanted outside noise by up to 25% less than a standard double pane glass, and up to 50% less than a plastic skylight.

Our manual skylights easily opened and closed with VELUX control rods. No need for costly wiring or electricity.

Adding daylight to a home is essential to health and well-being.

The No Leak Skylight carries a 10-year installation warranty, plus 20 years on glass, 10 years on product, and 5 years on blinds and controls.

    Fitment:

Its very important to use professional installer to replace your skylight. As this way you can get all latest available options and get most effective price.

Also,  most importantly,  professional installer will measure the opening, will investigate how many layers of roofing there and if existing skylight installed over the actual roof deck or over the layer of shingle, what brand was the previous skylight (there was a lot of different manufacturers back in 80s, like Andersen, ROTO, Wasco and some others) they all were different by the measurements and usually new skylight are off by 1-3 inches, or if there was “Roof Window” and now we trying to replace it with  actual “Skylight” the difference might be even bigger. Professional installer will be able to figure out which “replacement” are fits the best and price in all necessary inside builds ups and molding work.

    Installation Options

When it comes to installing a skylight in your home, you have the option to do-it-yourself or find an installer near you. If you opt to do-it-yourself, installation instructions and videos are available on our website to help you along the way.Installing your own skylights is no easy task so unless you are an expert, VELUX recommends requesting a consultation with an installer near you. You will end up with less hassle. Learn more on why you should choose a VELUX certified installer

What should you expect during a consultation?

During a consultation, an installer will come and assess the room the skylights will be placed in. The installer will be able to tell you what size skylights and how many would be best for that room and what installation style would be most efficient (e.g. deck mounted or a curb mounted). The installer would also be able to review blind options with you to complete the look of your skylight.

What should you expect during installation?

A skylight installation happens in two phases: rooftop and interior. Depending on the circumstances, such as roof pitch, interior light shaft depth and shape, and weather, installations can take between a half-day and three days. The rooftop portion of the installation includes cutting the hole and fastening the skylight to the roof with the three layers of protection found in VELUX No Leak Skylights.
It takes about a half-day per skylight to complete the interior portion of the installation, which includes drywall and painting (unless an Instant Light Shaft is used). Installers will make every effort to protect your home’s interior from dust and other installation debris. Often, they will construct a curtain of plastic sheeting around the space in your ceiling where the skylight will be installed to contain dust.

What if I have a flat ceiling?

Flat ceilings require more drywall work than vaulted ceilings. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. Your installer will paint the light shaft to match the surrounding ceiling area.Watch our short video to see how a simple skylight light shaft can dramatically change your indoor environment.
